How To Get Flyers Printed for FREE
A friend of the cause has been doing this for years now and has been able to have hundreds-of-thousands of flyers printed at no cost to him, and so we asked him to share his method for getting free flyers printed. Below is what he wrote to us... A huge "Thank You" to David for his initiative. He has helped the cause profoundly by provided countless flyers for free or for only the cost of shipping. Here's How You Do Itby David
Quite often they will get an order for a 6 page 8.5x11 or some other odd sized job which will leave an open spot on the sheet. The empty space on the sheet just gets cut off and thrown in the recycling during the binding process. The wasted space is often an odd size like 6 x the length of the sheet. If you create some odd size flyer artwork that the printer can have ON HAND for last minute insertion, you can luck out and get more flyers than you will know what to do with.
In the example above if you created a piece 5.5 x 7, you could fit 3 per sheet. Runs on presses like that will be as low as 5,000 and go up to as high as 100,000. That would yield 15,000 - 300,000 flyers for free! The key is approaching the owner and educating them to the nature of this dire problem. Once they are on board you will find that they will even manipulate job runs to fit your flyers in and sometimes will just run them as a separate job for free. Yes, with a little initiative, you can get free flyers printed at a local print shop.
Find a local printing company. Not a quick print shop with copiers but a printing company that has larger sheet fed printing presses. They print flyers and brochures on sheets that are 17 x 23 or larger. On a 17 x 23 sheet they can fit 4 sheets that are 8.5x11. (8 pages)
The first time I did this I got 30,000 8.5x11 flyers on gloss cover weight stock. The printing was free but I spent hundreds on shipping over the next few months.
