From: Boyle, Francis
Subject: 2011:Prospects for Humanity?

By shamelessly exploiting the terrible tragedy of 11 September 2001, the
Bush Jr. administration set forth to steal a hydrocarbon empire from the
Muslim states and peoples living in Central Asia and the Persian Gulf
under the bogus pretexts of (1) fighting a war against international
terrorism;

Why is it that the taboo on presentation of the "terrible tragedy of 11th September 2001" as an "inside-job" of the Bush administration is so religiously observed even by such a controversial and iconoclastic poster as Francis Boyle? Does this correspond to a genuine level of awareness or just to tacit conformity to an unspoken and unanalysed code of "etiquette"?

If one is wondering, as Maryllia of the Tri-Valley CAREs is, what has happened to the ANGER that once characterized the anti-nuclear movement, and deploring its absence, the answer to this is that the anger has migrated to movements such as the 911 Truth Movement, the anti-chemtrails movement, the movement against Codex Alimentarius, all the movements that have been successfully stigmatized for over a decade now as "conspiracy theorist".

Some of these movements have their "realpolitiker" wing with mentalities that would not be threatening even to the official and "respectable" section of the anti-nuclear movement, The ETC group and the Hands off Mother Earth initiative, for example, have the same mediated but in a sense collaborative attitude with the rank-and-file chemtrails movement as anti-nuclear movement officialdom has to the now numerically small but still existing anti-nuclear activist and civil disobedience groups.

But all of this is unknown territory to most people on this list, including Francis Boyle, for whom radical activism is something to do with youthful anti-war movement memories, not present-day experience.
THAT IS NOT BECAUSE RADICAL ACTIVISM IS TODAY NON-EXISTENT. IT IS OFF THE RADAR SCREEN OF THE ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT, THAT IS ALL.

So Maryllia, do you really want contact with people who are ANGRY????? I can tell you where to find them if you really want to know.

There is plenty of anti-nuclear sentiment among today's activists. But it is mixed up with "conspiracy theory" views of 11th September 20001. It is mixed up with rage about chemtrails, and this rage is usually underpinned by climate change sceptic views. That is unfortunate, in my view, but it is A PREDICTABLE SIDE EFFECT OF THE ANTI-NUCLEAR AND CLIMATE CHANGE MOVEMENTS' REFUSAL OF THE LAST TWENTY YEARS TO LOOK REALITY IN THE FACE. The field has been left free for right-wing populists to take over. And they have done so.
