"Almost 200 million women 'are absent" in Asia - the consequence of directed abortion of girls and doubtful population policy. An investigative documentary about women, who are not allowed to get daughters, about desperate tries of men somehow to find a wife, and about the abuse of women as sport of politics and economics.
The trade with women is booming: In China millions of men in nubile age are not finding any woman anymore - exactly like in India and South Korea. In leaflets and posters they are praising their sons: Chinese mothers in desperate quest for a daughter-in-law. How could it come to this and who is responsible to this that millions of women are absent? Besides other factors there is also the traditional preference for sons which has led to selective abortions of girls in many places. However the lack of women is no national, of one's own making phenomemon of single countries, but a consequences of targeted population policy of industrial nations after the Second World War and their fear of a population explosion: development money and the deployment of medical devices have been playing a significant role then as now. Based on personal fates from South Korea, China, India as well as Vietnam and documented by until now unpublished material from archives it is gone into the reasons and consequences of the human made imbalance of the sexes. A view in to the future: Hijacking, Sale and Misuse of girls and young women are increasing. The phenomenon of the lack of women and the surplus of men are destabilizing more and more societies worldwide. An investigative documentary about interlocking of politics, economics and medicine who are making women - then and now - to a sport of state and criminal groups of interests."
