Unfortunately, DIE ZEIT does not give any source, from where Jochen Bittner has the claim, that the North Pole is an "Ali Baba's Cave". "Russia Today" reported in 2013 that the Sea of Okhotsk between Russia and JAPAN is claimed to be called an "Ali Baba's cave". But that is not the North Pole.
Anyways: If there are really so many resources to be discovered at the North Pole, it is easy to understand, why Geoengineering is the first choice to make the Pole icefree.
