"The aim of this study was to determine whether WBC had a
positive effect on musculoskeletal metabolism, recovery from
exertional muscle damage, and immune function. Biochemical
and immunological markers were measured at baseline and after
1 week of WBC treatment (five once-daily sessions) in 10 male
rugby players selected randomly from the Italian National team."

As the more profound studies treat environments warmer than -100 degree C it has to be told that probands may suffer from cold infections afterwards. This is different, if you go into an environment colder than -100 degree C. At this temperature there are no germs in the air. Therefore you won't get infected by a cold infection as a reaction to a cold environment.

You may get used to this kind of artificial treatment beginning with short periods of 10 seconds if you are afraid of this extreme temperature. But you may start also with a period of one minute.

Health insurance coverage depends on the company. Of course, you have to argue with the positive effects of the treatment.

In this context, I highlight the response of the immune system to the cryotherapy because of the topic on this website: The immune system is under attack.

There are more profound studies about cryotherapy on the following topics:
"Whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) consists of brief exposure to
extreme cold in a temperature-controlled chamber (110 1C)
(Westerlund et al., 2004). It is applied to relieve pain and
inflammatory symptoms caused by numerous disorders, particularly
those associated with rheumatic conditions, and is recommended
for the treatment of arthritis, fibromyalgia and
ankylosing spondylitis."
