Why Do Politicians Leave Long Pauses Between Words?
"All high-level politicians have been well-trained in neurolinguistic techniques."
Have you ever heard politicians speaking and injecting long pauses between words? Have you ever wondered why they do this?
Long pauses during a speech accomplish two things:
First, long pauses tend to exhaust the listener more quickly.
Scientifically speaking, an exhausted mind is less defensive. The listener's guard lowers and they become less critical and more passive. This results in the listener being more accepting of the claims being spoken.
Second, long pauses encourage the listener's mind to drift.
The drifting mind tends to focus on preferred subjects, and this tends to lower ones defenses. They become more mentally passive, less critical, and more accepting of the content of the speech.
Propaganda is like a wrestling match. It's job is to exhaust and overpower the opponent over a period of time.
